Superhero Cyborgs Assemble Once Again

In one day, eight kids turned themselves into the ultimate superhero upgrades this weekend in the Boston area. It's amazing to see what we were able to do in one day. With the support of an amazing group of organizations, eight kids gathered at Canopy City in Somerville, Massachusetts to learn how to bring design into their lives. This was a mini-version of a five-day Superhero Cyborg experience Jordan joined in January of 2016. We teamed up with Kate Ganim at KIDmob once again to introduce the workshop for a day. Our hope is once the kids get the taste of what it's like to create their own body modifications, they'll want to keep learning! All eight kids came up with such really cool ideas.

I'm so proud of the kids and extra excited they got to share the day with the Boston Globe. While the kids were learning, I got a chance to hang out with the parents. We talked about ways parents can help not only advocate for health needs, but for design. I'm so excited to stay in touch with a really great group. I honestly feel like we are just starting to create something big for our kids and for the future of design. The day couldn't have happened without the support of a lot of people. Kate Ganim of KIDmob is an incredible advisor for Born Just Right and the perfect design guide for kids. My friend, Jen Myronuk of STEM on Stage made a lot of magic come together. I'm very thankful. More thanks go to Patti Garofalo and Peggy Ganim of Helping Hands Foundation. Matt, Kellyanne, and Athena at Canopy City donated the space and it was perfect.
