Celebrate Jordan's Birthday in Honor of Camp No Limits
We're getting so close to celebrating Jordan's SEVENTH birthday. I don't know about you, but I adore birthdays and both of my kids have inherited the joy of birthday celebrations. For Jordan, her birthday has a new meaning since last year. We held a birthday fundraiser for Camp No Limits in 2011 and the fundraising experience went WAY beyond our expectations. A goal of $700 turned into $2300 raised in Jordan's honor.I cannot explain the amount of pride that fundraiser has given Jordan. She always looks forward to this special camp when it comes to Missouri. Camp introduced her to a wonderful group of confident and able limb-different kids and adults. Camp also shows her ways to stay strong with Pilates and life skills like how to use zippers and tie shoe. Camp is a glowy, happy spot in our lives. Jordan is determined to help more kids attend. Last year, we started fundraising a month before Jordan's December 29th birthday. This year, I started the fundraising in the summer by running in a half marathon in honor of camp and Jordan held a Finding Nemo party and auction when the 3D movie came out. So far, we've already raised $1700! We would love to raise $2500 by Jordan's birthday on December 29th.Here are our top five reasons why Jordan loves camp:1. Good Friends - Each year, Jordan makes new friends and it is wonderful. Everyone has a chance to celebrate and learn about their limb differences.
2. Family Time - Camp No Limits is a family camp. We have a chance to spend time together and get to know other wonderful families. Cameron enjoys camp just as much as Jordan. He has friends and special experiences that is created just for camp siblings. There is also a parent support group. 3. Life Skills - Jordan learned how to button shirts, zip jackets and put on tricky pants at a very young age. She is encouraged by seeing the older girls and wants to learn how to pull her hair into a rubber band. Some of the older friends have helped her learn to tie her shoes! The mentorship of the older kids helped Jordan learn how she can support younger friends. She's growing into a mentor just like the bigger kids. 4. Sports Skills - Jordan is growing into a very confident athlete because there are so many amazing athletes who are a part of Camp No Limits. This year, Jordan learned she really enjoys tennis. Maybe we'll pick up some lessons next year.5. Special Reunions - We may not be able to see every friend every year at Camp No Limits. But there are times when great friends are able to return. Jordan met Josh Kennison when she was four years old. Two years later, they were able to spend time together again. Jordan and Josh are awesome together. I'm so grateful for these reunion moments. We are blessed to be a part of Camp No Limits. I hope your donations can help more families take part in this wonderful camp along with us. Please consider donating a little or a lot. Camp No Limits is a non-profit. Your donation is a tax deduction and we all know how helpful that can be when you're getting close to the end of the year and need to be sure you don't have to pay a big tax bill in April. Jordan and I both appreciate anything you can give!
