Ahoy there, mateys

We've had a very pirate-filled two days. First, we attended the first day of Windjammer Days in Boothbay Harbor, Maine to watch some pirate fighting and have a chance to learn more about pirates. The kids got to learn some sword skills and discover stories about tooth worms and vaporing. By the way, tooth worms were what pirates feared were in their mouth when there was a bad tooth. Vaporing was how pirates would be loud and scary without being violent in hopes a boat would give up its goods in fear without fighting. The first day of training gave the kids an option to be a part of a full pirate reenactment the next day. Jordan decided she wanted to take part in helping defend the pirates from "the British" who were tired of the pirates having fun at the harbor. The kids prevailed in the battle and even forced the British to dance to the Hokey Pokey.Too cute.We spent the rest of the day saying "argh" and "ahoy, matey" more than usual. But you won't find me complaining!
