A St. Louis Running Adventure

Jordan is lucky enough to go to a school with a committed running club. We meet before school on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This year, Jordan signed up for two big challenges: To participate in three 5K races during the school year and run enough miles to match a full marathon. So far, Jordan has participated in two 5K races and over the weekend, she went above and beyond to finalize that full marathon goal. The big mileage comes from a challenge called the Go! St. Louis Read, Right &  Run Marathon. This is the third year our family has joined in on this fun run.Kids who sign up for the challenge agree to read 26 books, do 26 good deeds and run 25 miles. The final 1.2 miles of the marathon are completed in St. Louis' Forrest Park. Cameron took part in the reading challenge and ran in the Go! St. Louis 5K with me. Jordan and Cameron will join me later this month in a really fun 5K glow run that ends with a neon dance party. I can't wait.I'm thrilled the kids enjoy getting out there and challenging themselves with some healthy fun. I'm also so glad Randy was willing to drive out to St. Louis the night before the race and enjoy a not-very-romantic Italian dinner on our 16th wedding anniversary. We all stayed in a downtown St. Louis hotel near the Arch for the fun of it. It was a little chilly that night so of course, I was the only person to brave the cool weather to go out and take pictures to enjoy the Arch views. I'm silly like that.Either way, we had a fun mini-adventure all for some healthy fun. It was also a great chance to celebrate the kids as they continue to stay active even though they both love their Disney Infinity and Minecraft.
